Wuzhong Museum

Design: 2014

Situated in South Suzhou, Wuzhong Museum derives its design from the rounded jade, an idol of worship to the natural and celestial beings of the Wu tradition. The circular quality symbolizes not only the sun and moon, but a fluency and togetherness of continuation, the aesthetics of which were prominent in traditional philosophy, literature, art, calligraphy and architecture of the Wu culture. Through interpreting the circle as not static, but of motion, and incorporating it within the architectural concept, the Wuzhong Museum embodies both the traditional and the modern as an exhibition space along the canal.
